Registration for the StudioS19 Online Tour has opened
DressagePowers's big success last year with 500 participants is back with two competition opportunities during spring. Registration for the StudioS19 Online Tour has just opened.
– The StudioS19 Online Tour is Sweden’s most sustainable competition. You don’t have to drive to the competition venue. Today, given the global situation and the fuel prices, I think the riders appreciate competing there where they are. We can handle 100 starters per day, so a total of 200 riders can compete in our season; in the fall we will have two more rounds, says Peter Härnstam, one of the founders of DressagePower.
The competing teams film their horses at home and submit the footage. It is approved judges who watch and evaluate the horses. All the footage is put together into a real TV broadcast that is broadcast on the competition day on DressagePower TV.
– Last year we were fully immersed in the pandemic and at that time we saw the Online Tour as an opportunity for teams to get out and compete. The Online Tour was a very appreciated competition last year and we had competitors from, among others, France, Uruguay and Norway. Also this year, international teams can sign up, says Peter Härnstam.
The online tour consists of five groups where the teams compete against each other on percentage. It is possible to ride Easy B:1 up to Medium A:1. Last year Marie Karlberg and her horse Møllegaards Romeo came second in group 3 where the competing teams ride Easy A:1 and Easy A:3.
– I think the Online Tour was a very professional competition for us riders who ride lightweight classes. It was fun to watch the TV broadcast. I didn’t think it would go as well as it did with Romeo. He’s a real sweetie but has a heart of gold, she says.
Marie Karlberg describes her new horse Dalgaards Dux as a gentleman and a teacher.
– Everyone would have a horse like Dux. This year he will also start the Online Tour in Group 4, while Romeo competes in Group 3. I also want to take the opportunity to have fun with my horses, says Marie Karlberg.
One of Marie Karlberg’s goals is to start Dux in the Para-SM this summer. The long-term goal is the Paralympics in Paris 2024.
– Last year I competed with a disability, but starting this year I am classified as a fourth-grade dressage rider, says Marie Karlberg.
Another person who has appreciated the Online Tour is the referee Linda Olsson, who judged many teams last year.
– The advantage of the Online Tour is that I don’t have to travel, and the competitors don’t have to either. What’s fun for me is that I get to see many new teams from other parts of the country. I live in Örnsköldsvik and usually judge competitions here, says Linda Olsson.

As with regular competitions, DressagePower has rules in place to protect animal welfare and the well-being of horses.
– After the ride and the greeting are over, the horse should be filmed so that it is possible to see that there are no scratches from spurs or that the noseband is too tight. If we think the horse does not look fresh, we contact the rider and trainer; of course, the ride will not be evaluated or broadcast, says Peter Härnstam.
Last spring, many competitions were cancelled and then the Online competitions became very popular, even among the judges.
– I don’t think there’s that big difference between judging recorded rides and judging teams in person. A prerequisite is that the person filming doesn’t stand too close or too far away. This was a good way for me to keep my riding career going during the pandemic, and it was just as fun for the riders to compete despite the restrictions, says Linda Olsson.
This is how it works when competing StudioS19 Online Tour
You record your ride in peace and quiet at home. No competition license is required and you do not have to load and transport your horse. The horse and rider must have regulations-compliant equipment and attire. The rider or an adult person if the rider is under 18 must certify that the horse or pony is in a competitive condition and vaccinated in accordance with the Ridsport Federation’s competition regulations, and also notify which trainer the team is training for.
The top three placing from the fine prizes from Exclusive Horsewear and all placed horses receive rosettes. After both competitions, a total winner is selected in each group. The three placing in the top positions in the overall standings each receive a blanket.
This year, DressagePower has four competition days, two of which are in spring; the deadline for submitting competition entries is April 11 and May 16, respectively. The competition will be televised on April 24 and May 29.
