Sweden's most popular dressage competition

DressagePower combines top-level sport with showmanship

Now DressagePower is coming together. All semi-finals and finals will be held during the super weekend from November 10th to 13th. Smedstad Equestrian Center in Linköping is the venue where top-level competition will be combined with showmanship, partying and mingling.

– There will be dressage classes for four days with gala evenings, rider competitions, exhibitors and a secret international guest who will give a clinic. We will even have our own DJ playing music during the semi-finals, says Kristian von Krusenstierna from DressagePower.

– It will be a lot of great sports, fun and showmanship; even dressage competitions can be spectacular. This will be Sweden’s biggest dressage meeting. We want to create an exciting and fun competition for riders, spectators, horse owners and partners. The DressagePower Horse Show will be packaged in a way that we have not seen before in Sweden, says Peter Härnstam from DressagePower.

Semifinals and finals in this year's edition of StudioS19 The Grand Prix Tour, StudioS19 Young Rider Trophy, Sweden Trophy, Junior Trophy and Future Stars will therefore be held on the second weekend in November at Smedstad Ridsportcenter and the organizing club is Linköping Fältrittklubb. The qualifiers for the Thursday and Friday classes will be open subject to space available for riders who have not qualified for the DressagePowers competition series. DressagePower TV, together with StudioS19, will broadcast all the semifinals and finals live.

– I think it’s fun that we can bring together dressage riders from all over Sweden at Smedstad Equestrian Center and show off dressage at a really high level, not least for our own riders, who I believe will get a real boost in dressage and a lot of inspiration over the weekend, says Lina Johansson, sports manager and riding instructor at Smedstad.

Lina Dolk, who came third in the Grand Prix Tour last year, is eager to make a comeback and is determined to do so.

– I have students who will be competing in the DressagePower Horse Show, and I myself have a horse, Buskhagas Arundhati, who I hope will qualify for the Future Stars and Languedoc, which I will qualify for in the Grand Prix. It will be great to get everyone together and have a little celebration like a championship weekend before there is a break from competition during the winter, she says.

This is the sixth year that DressagePower organizes the Young Rider Trophy and Grand Prix Tour with the goal of offering Swedish riders the best possible competitions to prepare them for upcoming championships. Peter Härnstam and Kristian von KrusenstiernaWe want to create a stronger future for Swedish equestrian sport. One way to do this is to create more opportunities for championship-like competitions, with a show jumping final. This year, a qualifying round is required, either nationally or internationally.
– I think it’s good to ride the semifinals and final on the same weekend. On the one hand, it means a bigger group gets to compete that weekend, and on the other hand, it’s not enough to just ride well one day; you need to ride well all weekend to succeed. That puts a bit of pressure on us riders, and it’s good to practice it, says Lina Dolk, who thinks more U25 riders should take the opportunity to be part of the Grand Prix ride.

– We hope not only to be able to offer a good competition and show, but also a bit of a championship spirit for the riders. We see this as an unofficial indoor SM, says Peter Härnstam.
