Sweden Trophy: A perfect challenge for Elsa & Golda

Just under a month ago, the registration for all DressagePowers competitions opened, and immediately many enthusiastic riders signed up! One of the very first to sign up was 20-year-old Elsa Ahlvin, who is now looking forward to her debut in our competitions. Elsa has signed up for the Sweden Trophy, the competition for the country’s best MsvB teams, and her goal is to fight for a qualifying spot for the semi-finals this autumn. We have spoken with Elsa to find out more about her plans.

Elsa rides Golda J (born 2013, Blue Hors Zack-Kennedy), a very sensitive horse but with a high work ethic. Their greatest strength is the strong trust they have in each other, and Elsa says that both she and Golda have a common mindset: ”I can do it myself best.” This can sometimes be negative, but it has also helped them out of difficult situations where someone ”gets things wrong” – something Elsa clarifies often depends on the rider themselves.

– We have had Golda with us since she was one year old. We used Eamon Hickey both during the training and later when we needed help putting on the reins, which was a difficulty for us., ," says Elsa.

Together, they have ridden up to Msv B:5 and competed at the Falsterbo Horse Show 2024. This was their debut at a larger arena.

Now the team has set its sights on taking it to the next level, and the goal for the year was DressagePower. Elsa has previously been a participant in our rider training program, the DressagePower Academy, and it was through that she became aware of our competitions.

– For us, it’s about gaining as much experience as possible and trying to climb a notch in the classes. DressagePower is a challenge, and we look forward to being part of it. It feels like a perfect opportunity for us., ," Elsa tells.

To support her on her journey, Elsa has her coaches Isabella Tovek (who was recently ranked top in our Grand Prix 2024) and Tytti Kuylenstierna. Together, they have put together a plan for the competition season, and Elsa shares her thoughts ahead of this year's goals:

– We’re starting with our debut year, and how it goes will dictate our next step. If it goes well, we can stick to our original plan, but if we need more experience, we’ll do a little extra environmental training in the spring. We’re thinking of starting once a month and hope to be able to get some meetings in, since Golda only started a few such competitions last year. But at the core, it’s the training that’s our biggest focus, ," says Elsa.

We wish Elsa and Golda all the best!
