Sverker Albrektson: ”If you love horses – make the dream come true”
For Sverker Albrektson, horses are about something that is hard to put into words. Despite a long life as an entrepreneur and business leader, it is the relationship between humans and horses that still fascinates him most.
– It's a very special animal. A horse knows if you like it and appreciate it. You get a response, almost like in a relationship between people. Horses are intelligent and that's exactly the connection that touches me the most, ", says Sverker.
His passion for horses has followed him throughout his life and is a big reason why, along with his wife Lena and granddaughter Nora, he has chosen to get involved in the DressagePower Horse Show.
A gift from the heart
A few years ago, Sverker chose to donate the horse Jewel to the Beridna High Guard – a decision that came naturally.
– My neighbor in the countryside was the head of Beridna Högvakten and knew the relationship I have with horses. Beridna Högvakten is built on people who want to help and contribute. For me, therefore, it was an easy decision to donate a horse.
Being able to give back to the equestrian sport is something he sees as both important and meaningful.
That is why the DressagePower family supports them.
When the opportunity came to support the DressagePower Horse Show, neither Sverker, Lena nor Nora hesitated.
– It's a very nice setup. Above all, it's our great-granddaughter, Nora, who rides and loves horses, so the sport means a lot to the whole family. DressagePower does a fantastic job and it feels both fun and important to be able to be involved and support them.
For Sverker, the partnership is about helping to create more opportunities for both riders and the sport as a whole.
Swedish equestrian sport is based on a strong foundation
When asked what Swedish equestrian sport needs most right now, Sverker emphasizes the importance of continued commitment.
– All support that the sport can receive is valuable. Swedish equestrian sport has very good conditions with fantastic competitions and skilled riders, both nationally and internationally. We have a positive foundation to build on.
Three pieces of advice for the next generation
The DressagePower Horse Show brings together riders from the pony up to the Young Rider and senior level. To the young riders, Sverker wants to give three clear pieces of advice:
1. Dare to bet fully
If horses and riding are what you’re passionate about – don’t settle for dreaming. Dare to take the leap and invest. Use your family, your trainers, and your riding school to help you.
2. Take time for what you love
Development comes through commitment. The more time and energy you invest, the greater the opportunities you have to reach your goals.
3. Turn the dream into reality
Dreams don't become reality by themselves. Dare to believe in yourself, work purposefully, and seize every opportunity to develop.
Together we are building the equestrian sport of the future
Sverker is positive about the future of Swedish dressage and hopes that more and more people want to get involved and contribute – whether it’s as riders, spectators, officials, or partners.
– There is so much joy and community within the equestrian sport. If we continue to help each other and support each other, Swedish equestrian sport can continue to develop and inspire even more people.
